Senior Interior Designer (IN/CLT)

With Commercial Design Experience

Design Collaborative is seeking an Interior Designer with a passion for commercial design. Our Interior Designers know that by creating outstanding spaces they can shape and positively affect an individual’s and organization’s identity, culture, and user engagement.  A DC Interior Designer is a project leader, a problem solver, and a key teammate from the project interview to the ribbon cutting, and their passion to achieve design excellence shows in the details as well as the built environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a CIDA Accredited Interior Design program
  • Familiarity with BIM modeling
  • 5+ years’ experience with commercial projects
  • Outstanding graphic presentation skills and the ability to communicate design ideas quickly.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commercial experience preferred
  • Passion for design
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Responsibilities
  • Presentation graphics preparation
  • Verbal presentations and communication of ideas to clients, contractors, and colleagues
  • Knowledge of aspects of the design process
  • Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development
  • Knowledge of life safety codes and requirements.
  • Exercises sound time management, organizational skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentation.
  • Conceptual development of interior spaces
  • Generate construction documents, specifications, FFE, and material selections needed for construction
  • Create interior finish schemes and work with design team to develop interior architecture.
  • Inform project specifications.
  • Identify code requirements for common architectural systems, life safety, and ADA
  • Ability to space plan, and draft and develop construction documents pertaining to interior architecture and design
  • Research new solutions in industry
  • Coordinate keynoting with specifications. Aid in outlining and/or writing specification sections.
  • Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Participate in all project phases from Programming / Conceptual Design through Construction Administration
  • Participate in conversation relating to design intent and identify ways to incorporate into documents.
  • Working with the project team to develop ideas, solutions, and interior details
  • Work with project team to develop interior renderings
  • Develop relationships with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators
