Teller Pods: Design to Support Efficiency and Connection

Teller pods allow for more interaction between customers and tellers. Instead of being separated by a wall, staff and customers can work together, creating a more personal banking experience.

As financial institutions continue to grow and change as a response to technology and customer needs, the typical teller line is transforming into a tool to provide more efficient operations for employees and a more personalized experience for customers. A teller pod brings the walls down and invites a potential customer to take part in their banking experience with the teller. A teller pod performs all the typical services of a traditional teller line, but the modified layout has the added benefits of enhancing communication while still remaining secure and efficient.

Teller pods allow for more interaction between customers and tellers. Instead of being separated by a wall, staff and customers can work together, creating a more personal banking experience. Teller pods allow the customer and the teller to stand side by side while performing transactions and meeting members’ needs. In addition, tellers are now free to walk up and greet customers when they enter the branch.

It’s Secure

With today’s ever-evolving technology, equipment such as teller cash recyclers (TCRs) or teller assist units (TAUs) make it easier to have tellers and customers interacting in the same space without the worry of cash being stolen. By keeping teller pods more secure, tellers are free to walk up and greet their customers, bring them back to view a computer screen, complete transactions, and more.

It’s More Open

Using teller pods, the physical barrier between customers and tellers is minimized. This not only promotes personal relationships, but opens up the branch as a whole to make the space more welcoming for visitors. Both tellers and customers have more maneuverability and freedom to move around the pod, which allows customers to stand alongside tellers to review accounts on computer screens without the separation of a typical teller line.

It’s Efficient

The invention of TCRs and TAUs make transactions faster and easier for both tellers and customers. Having two tellers plus one TCR is said to be the equivalent of having three tellers plus a typical teller line. This means tellers can serve more customers in the same amount of time and provide a personalized banking experience for each customer.
