Role Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Business Development Manager at our Charlotte, North Carolina office. Design Collaborative Business Development Managers are passionate business development professionals committed to excellence in developing client relationships. Our Business Development Managers are experienced business development professionals with a strong background in multiple domains of professional services BD, including client & business development, proposals, and promotional activity, and ultimately ensure business development behaviors are executed to differentiate DC in the markets we serve.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Marketing, Communications, Business, Professional Selling, or related field preferred.
  • CPSM Registration preferred (Certified Professional Services Marketer through SMPS).
  • Preferred industry experience in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or Construction.
  • At least 5 years of business development experience in the professional services field.
  • An established network of connections and familiarity of the Charlotte, NC area strongly preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Basic understanding of A/E/C terminology and project delivery methods preferred.
  • Balanced approach to consultative business development with consistent behavior, positive attitude, and appropriate techniques to uncover and close business opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to facilitate close work with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal departments in achieving deadlines and quality work.
  • Ability to value and work well with various personalities and work styles.
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize personal workload and make necessary adjustments in meeting strict deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and ability to navigate and leverage the system accurately and regularly.
Responsibilities
  • Actively seek out business opportunities through a variety of processes including networking, cold calling, attending conferences, and being actively involved in the community.
  • Develops deep and qualified opportunity pipeline and leverages CRM to track them effectively.
  • Researches and analyzes prospective clients and opportunities within assigned markets or region.
  • Schedules meetings with new/existing clients to discover project opportunity insights.
  • Develops and maintains a strong business network.
  • Participates in professional and community organizations.
  • Works with technical staff to develop proposals and scopes of work.
  • Effectively meets defined business development metrics.
  • Proactively integrates into the Business Development & Marketing time and is actively engaged in weekly huddles.
  • Proactively integrates into the firm and builds strong effective working relationships with technical staff, Market Leaders, and Relationship Managers.
  • Actively participates in the firm wide weekly staff meeting and participates in the formal and informal connection and networking opportunities hosted throughout the year.
