Rush Memorial Hospital’s former multi-patient rooms were converted to private rooms with accommodations to fit up to two patients in its newly renovated Medical-Surgical Unit.

A majority of rooms are fitted with both primary and secondary headwalls.
The design of the headwalls in each room allows for private rooms to transform into semi-private rooms when the census or other circumstances dictate.The added flexibility of the patient rooms allows the hospital system to have a total capacity of 15 functioning beds on the Med-Surg Unit when demand or needs require it. The changes to Rush Memorial’s Medical-Surgical Unit also included the relocation and expanded renovation of the nursing station and supporting functions. This was done to increase collaboration among staff and provide better wayfinding and access to patients. |
