Twelve projects were selected out of 72 projects across the entire Americas to win the 2021 ULI Americas Awards for Excellence. One of these projects was our very own Promenade Park! This awards program recognizes superior efforts in private, public, and nonprofit sectors, specifically projects which represent the highest standards of achievement in land use profession.

Promenade Park brought so many people together to design and create the park, and now it brings all kinds of people together to enjoy it.

The canal and the PNC Playground are favorites for children, the ping pong and foosball tables are a draw for young adults. Many people of all ages enjoy going for a stroll on the Tree Canopy Trail, listening to a performance at the Sweetwater Bandshell, or swinging on the bench swings overlooking the river. Weddings, quinceañeras, festivals, holidays, and more are celebrated at the park pavilion. Athletes and casual adventurers can kayak or canoe down the river, paddling under the historic Well Street Bridge that was restored.

Promenade Park is a place for all, and we are so thrilled that it is now recognized internationally, showing the world how the city of Fort Wayne is coming together and taking care of the city, the environment around it, and each other.

Thank you to the Urban Land Institute for selecting Promenade Park as one of the winners of the 2021 ULI Americas Awards for Excellence, and thank you to the wonderful project team who made this park a reality.
