The key to effective and efficient exterior lighting is to use the right type of lighting in the right place at the right time. In most cases, LED lighting is the best technology for the most energy efficient site lighting solution. However, it’s important to know that a simple one-for-one LED replacement isn’t necessarily the best or most effective solution out there. Key factors for site lighting include important lighting characteristics such as color temperature, color rendering and fixture efficacy. It’s also important to use the right fixture optics and shielding options to direct light intentionally and avoid excess light pollution. Finally, there are a number of controls solutions available that make it easy to set back lighting levels based on time of day, occupancy, and available ambient natural light. |
