Architectural Interior Designer (CLT)

Design Collaborative is seeking a full-time Architectural Interior Designer with a passion to improve people’s worlds. Design Collaborative Interior Designers are design professionals who are committed to excellence in people-first building design, technical documentation, construction administration, and client satisfaction on every project.

The ideal candidate has background, skillset and a passion for interior architectural design. In addition to emphasizing aesthetics, creating visually appealing and functional spaces by selecting finishes, furniture, and decor, this experienced designer also dives into the structural aspects of a space, including its layout, functionality, and how it connects with the building’s overall structure. Project types will involve renovations, adaptive reuse, and new construction.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited program
  • NCIDQ certification preferred or in progress
  • Preferred market experience: Education, Workplace, Healthcare, Financial, Industrial, or Religious
  • 5-10 years’ post-graduate experience with an architectural firm
  • Prior experience with a strong focus on architectural interiors
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Passion for design excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to facilitate close work with clients, consultants, contractors and internal departments in achieving deadlines and quality work.
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize personal workload and make necessary adjustments in meeting strict deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret a building program and generate varied design concepts.
  • Knowledge of building materials, specifications and construction techniques.
  • Knowledge of building codes, life safety and accessibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering disciplines sufficient to evaluate and coordinate work.
  • Knowledge of construction processes sufficient to coordinate projects with contractors.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Sketchup, Lumion and other rendering software a plus.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in the identification of the client’s goals and expectations for quality, price, and schedule.
  • Lead and contribute to all phases of interior design projects, from concept through construction administration.
  • Develop and present design concepts, space planning, material selections, and FF&E specifications.
  • Collaborate with architects, consultants, and other team members to integrate interior architecture seamlessly within broader building systems.
  • Produce detailed interior construction drawings and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability goals.
  • Participate in client presentations and design reviews.
  • Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and contractors during design development and construction phases.
