The Veteran’s Memorial Bridge in Downtown Fort Wayne, now stands as an honor to our servicemen and women. This crucial infrastructure not only provides three lanes for the 23,500 vehicles that traverse it daily, but also features enhanced pedestrian walkways for convenient city navigation.

Further augmenting its user-friendliness, the bridge includes a separate railing for pedestrian safety, special bump-out areas for scenic stops, and an attractive pedestrian plaza.
With a blend of functional design and aesthetic appeal, the bridge illuminates both its roadway and walkways, effortlessly connecting downtown to The Old Fort and neighboring areas.Above all, the memorial symbolizes our profound respect for those who have served and continue to serve our nation. The project provided much needed accessible sidewalks that meet universal design criteria since Fort Wayne is gaining traction as an accessible destination (with Turnstone, Promenade Park, and AWS). The bridge was a unique effort and partnership between the City of Fort Wayne and Indiana Department of Transportation. |
