Lane Middle School

Fort Wayne, Indiana

In 2017, Design Collaborative began working with the Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) team on a complete renovation of Lane Middle School. The renovation included major architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work including the addition of air conditioning and new heating and ventilation throughout the entire building.

New energy efficient LED fixtures replaced old, inefficient fluorescent lighting – this saved in both overall energy usage costs and provided clean, brighter lighting for the learning environment.

Upgrades were made to the wall, flooring, and ceiling finishes throughout the building.

Because construction took place part of the time during the school year, designing an effective phasing plan that allowed for minimal disruption was one of the largest indicators of success for this project.
