Franke Park is the most visited park in the city. The 340 acres are home to the FW Children’s Zoo, Follinger Theater, two pavilions, summer Day Camp, and many miles of trails.

The improvements of the Renaissance Phase I project balances the ecology, recreation, and the built environment while improving circulation and connectivity challenges.

A new entrance to the park relives congestion at the zoo, and provides an opportunity to establish a state park feel for visitors. The bridge over Spy Run Creek safely allows pedestrian, bike, and vehicular traffic to traverse the waterways. A new pavilion provides a landing space for new explorers, and an opportunity for community gatherings. New biking, hiking, and driving paths serve this first phase of improvements and set up circulation for the latter implementation projects. The new Pavilion is located at a high point in the park to carry the same woodland theme that is seen throughout the master plan. Underutilized areas have been recaptured for fresh engagement and programming opportunities where the existing maintenance facilities currently live.
