University of Saint Francis – Music Technology Center
Fort Wayne, IN
The Music Technology Center, part of the downtown campus, has a state-of-the-art recording space for students. Fully stocked with top-of-the-line equipment, this facility houses classrooms, individual and ensemble practice spaces, recording studios, mixing suites, a piano lab and a master studio. The music tech center also features a 2,000-seat auditorium, which hosts a variety of university, regional, and national acts each year. This venue serves as a lab of sorts: you can even learn how to become a sound engineer in real-time during rehearsals and live performances!
To achieve sound isolation, the renovation features double walls, double ceilings, floating floors, ductwork traps, and door and window details that absorb and diffuse sound. The shape, size, dimensions, ceiling heights, and key listening positions in each space are each carefully designed to meet the acoustic demands of the space.
