We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who brings deep expertise in HVAC and plumbing system design. In this role, you will lead engineering efforts across a variety of project types within our multidisciplinary design firm.

Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, ABET Accredited Program
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for building systems
- 2+ years of experience overseeing the work of other engineers
- Healthcare and/or Higher Education market design experience preferred
- Campus-level, large-scale project experience a plus
- Proficiency in HVAC and plumbing design-related software (e.g., Revit, Trane Trace, energy modeling tools).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Responsibilities AND SKILLS
- Responsible for design and drawing preparation related to the commercial and institutional building construction industry related to the design of HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing systems
- Participation in client and project team meetings bringing creative solutions to the table
- Where applicable, establish preliminary project scope, budget, and schedule along with guidance from Project Manager
- Involvement in field surveys of existing systems, and review and monitoring of installation and construction of above-mentioned systems
- Represent DC at job site visits and communicate with contractors / subs / owners effectively
- Clearly understand and articulate systems and be a “proactive forward looking” individual
- Capable of evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Writing design narratives & engineering analysis
- Lead, teach, coach, and develop assigned team of engineers
- Execute project quality control checks at both Design Development and Construction Document levels
