It’s time to feature some of our Education projects, more specifically student centers and lounges! It’s important to remember these types of spaces for students to socialize in, collaborate on schoolwork, grab a bite to eat, and even just relax as the school year kicks into gear. In an upcoming blog, we’ll dive into more detail on how education design has a huge impact on students’ mental health. For now, please enjoy these project highlights!

 

Huntington University – HUB

The Huntington HUB is a place for students to go and hang out, study together, or grab a cup of coffee from the cafe. With large windows letting in plenty of natural light, forestry graphics on several of the interior windows, and pops of the Huntington green throughout, the HUB brings the connection to nature into this student space. It’s the perfect place to cozy up by the fireplace and have a great conversation with friends!

University of Notre Dame – Morris Inn Lounge

The Morris Inn Lounge was renovated to be a study space for students and a welcoming lobby for guests. The interior design and furniture evoke a “living room” feel that provides a cozy place for students to study and work between classes. Artwork and sculptures throughout the lounge tell the history of the university. A variety of couches, tables, and chairs give students plenty of options for how they want to study, including cozy seating in front of the fireplace.

University of Notre Dame – Morris Inn Coffee Shop

Another renovation at the University of Notre Dame’s Morris Inn was the coffee shop. It has a warm and welcoming feel to it, kind of like your home kitchen, to encourage students to relax and enjoy a pastry or cup of coffee. It’s a comfortable place to kick back with some friends and feel at home.

Taylor University Campus Center Taylor University Campus Center Study Area

Taylor University – LaRita Boren Campus Center

Here we have a little bit of a throwback to the LaRita Boren Campus Center at Taylor University. The campus center has a variety of dining options and seating for students. Large floor-to-ceiling windows connect the center to the outdoors and brighten the space. Many student organizations and groups meet here, and student services is also in the campus center. It’s a central hub for many student activities on campus.

These are just a few education projects highlighting spaces where students can go to enjoy campus life. These spaces are so important for social interaction and connectivity, which encourage student success.
