Our Administrative Team: the Backbone of DC

On National Administrative Professionals Day, we recognize the talented people that are the backbone of Design Collaborative. They make sure our office runs smoothly every day, and are an integral part of the work we do for our clients. Our Administrative Team’s influence can be felt throughout our work – from finances, to shop drawings, to rebooting our servers. Thank you for your tireless efforts to ensure DC’s success, Administrative Team!

Misty James – Administrative Manager
Misty started at Design Collaborative in 1997, and is one of our most tenured employees. She oversees accounting functions, including AR, AP, and invoicing. She manages professional and firm registration in various states, in addition to maintaining continuing education efforts. She also works directly with project teams on the budgeting and scheduling processes, among other project responsibilities. Misty manages the Administrative team at DC, providing leadership, professional development, and support. She’s spent 21 years with DC, and we are grateful for her efforts!

Dawn Houser – Business Manager
Dawn started at Design Collaborative in 2001. As the Business Manager, she’s in charge of managing the firm’s budget, ledger, and cash flow. She creates and oversees our financial statements. She reviews our employee benefits to make sure our staff has the opportunity to receive quality health care. She also leads many important office initiatives, including Employee Wellness, and supporting Fort Wayne Community Schools through the Study Connection program.
Lori Duesler – Project Administrator
Lori started at Design Collaborative in 2007. She solely provides project support for the Higher Education studio, and shares project support responsibilities for the Workplace studio. Her duties include managing construction documents through substantial completion. This includes contracts, specifications, and state routings. For 11 years, she’s kept the team on track to meet deadlines by ensuring they have what they need to successfully meet the needs of our clients.
Laurie McCartin – Administrative Assistant
Laurie is the first face you see when you walk into our office. She’s been with Design Collaborative since May 2014, and since, she’s taken on many roles. She’s the voice of DC; every call to the office starts with Laurie. She’s our barista; she brews every pot of coffee, and makes sure we stay caffeinated. She’s our travel agent; all rentals cars, flights, and hotels are booked by her. She’s our source for sugar; she keeps her candy bowls stocked, and provides a birthday treat for each employee on their big day. She’s our mail carrier; she sorts through stacks of mail and packages each day.
Mandy Samudio – Project Administrator
Mandy joined Design Collaborative in 2017. She solely provides project support for the Healthcare studio, and shares project support responsibilities for the Workplace studio. Her duties include managing construction documents through substantial completion. This includes AIA documentation, pay applications, shop submittals, and punch lists.
Adam Noyes – Senior Systems Administrator
Adam joined Design Collaborative in 2016 as the firm’s first IT employee. He is responsible for all things computer related – our laptops, our server, and our phone system, to name a few. Our office truly could not operate without the regular maintenance and upgrades he performs to our server. He is also a member of the Workplace studio, contributing to IT design efforts for workplace projects.
