On Wednesday, May 22, Design Collaborative was honored to be awarded an Excellence in Construction Award by the Michiana Builders Association for our work on the green roof at the Joyce Athletic and Convocation Center (JACC) at the University Of Notre Dame. We served as the architect for the project, working with ConSpecT Services as the engineer, and Midland Engineering Co. as the contractor.
The JACC green roof is the largest green roof in Indiana at 79,096 square feet. In an effort to cut its carbon footprint in half by 2030, one strategy for Notre Dame is installing several green roofs. The JACC green roof covers nearly two acres of space. In total, 32,798 trays of plants form the design, consisting of 25 plant species. An irrigation system was installed to maintain the greenery.
Congratulations to the team members who worked on this significant project at the University of Notre Dame!
