Design Collaborative Announces Promotions and Corporate Awards

Design Collaborative (DC) recently announced employee promotions, service awards, and DC Values Award recipients during its annual holiday festivities. Two employees – Justin Vedder, RA, and Misty James, office manager, were promoted to senior associate.
Three employees – Matt Elliott, RA, associate partner and industrial market leader; Kelsey Rowe, P.E., associate partner and electrical engineer; and, Kelli Warner, technical designer, were each recognized for 10 years of service. Dawn Houser, business manager, was recognized for 20 years of service. 
Five employees – Bill Ledger, AIA, ACHA, NCARB, EDAC, LEED AP, senior associate and director of healthcare design; Katie Hiebel, project administrator; Rebecca Martin, RA, Steven Putt, Assoc. AIA, and Jordan Backer, mechanical designer, were all awarded various DC Values Awards, as outlined below. This is the inaugural year for DC Values Awards, which are based on the firm’s core values and celebrated within the corporate culture. The awards are peer nominated and selected annually by an internal DC Values Awards Committee based on the qualities below.

People-first Award – awarded to Katie Hiebel – is awarded to the employee who embodies a people-first mindset. Colleagues, neighbors, clients, and end-users are always at the top of the employee’s mind and caring for them drives every decision. Characteristics include excellent client service, optimistic outlook, encouraging, demonstrating kindness to others, being team-centered, and supporting “we” over “me.”
Love What You Do – awarded to Bill Ledger, AIA – is awarded to the employee who displays passion for their work by leveraging their skills to meet or exceed the expectations of their clients or co-workers. Characteristics include passionately pouring themselves into their work, seeking additional knowledge and/or training, and continuous self-improvement.
Don’t Be a Passenger – awarded Rebecca Martin, RA – is awarded to the employee who inspires colleagues to pursue excellence and demonstrates a high-level of initiative, contributes more to their role, their team, or to the firm than required, identifies potential problems and possible solutions, and seeks ways to improve the firm.
Give Back – awarded to Steven Putt, RA – is awarded to the employee that shares their time and talent for the betterment of others (within or outside of DC). They lead or contribute to volunteer activities, are involved in the community, and give back to the profession through professional organization involvement.
Have Fun – awarded to Jordan Backer – is awarded to the employee that enjoys the journey as much as they enjoy their work. They are integrated within their team and the firm, promote a sense of relationship within the work environment, participate in and contribute to events that foster the unique team-centered culture, and display the ability to maintain work/life fulfillment.
